Astronomy (n):  the study of objects and matter outside the earth’s atmosphere and of their physical and chemical properties.

Since mankind started keeping records, there have always been examples of etchings, drawings, paintings, sculptures and words that show us aspiring to reach the heavens.  To find the answers to questions of life.  Where did we come from?  How did we get here?  The stars in the sky above and beyond the earth have to hold the answers.

I really like how this first word for the A to Z Challenge fits my theme of turning science into science fiction.  What better way to build the foundation of a protagonist in a science fiction novel than to provide yourself a blank canvas and allow for any of the unlimited possibilities (known, or unknown) the Universe provides.

What picture would you paint, if you had a blank canvas and the Universe was your palette of colors?

I’d paint a sea of stars of many hues from blues to reds- I often dream of a sky where I see so many stars that the night sky is brighter than the day. Lovely blog btw! I’m also doing the A to Z Challenge!

I love studying astronomy, being able to study those worlds that are outside ours. I can definitely see how you can use that as a canvas for your writing. Great start on the challenge!

  3. What a neat spin on a writing theme! As a fan of sci-fi, I approve! Can’t wait to see how the alphabet fares on your blog. What wonders will you share!? Cheers to a successful A-to-Z!
