Overzealous

I am not a journalist but I have friends that are so I understand how getting the scoop on a big story can help make or boost a career.  I have seen it happen locally and nationally and I am usually happy for the person because I know they have achieved an important goal in their life.

But the media coverage and scrutiny surrounding the Boston bombings is getting out of hand.  Every now and again there is a news story that is bigger than any individual and this story is one of them.  There should be a sense of responsibility to let the investigation play out and not worry about getting the “scoop” but instead it is getting perilously close to creating interference in the investigation.

I have zero doubt in my mind that the best of the best of the best are working on this and they will get the job done.  They will figure out who is responsible and if the coward(s) are still around to face justice, it will be served.

But if the media become overbearing, even the very best can be distracted. Let’s not have this happen here.  Let there be one announcement to everyone at the same time and then let the media do what they are supposed to do.

Report the facts.

In a case like this, it is the responsible thing to do.

It seems they would have learned their lesson after the Newton tragedy…so much misinformation put out in record time. So irresponsible! I cannot watch the 24/7…they report even when there is nothing to report.

Oops..thanks for letting me rant here : ) Hopped over from the A-Z today.
